The role of fatty acid synthase (FASN) in the initial stages of senescence and ageing

During the Skin Challenges 2020, Dr. Midusa Mahenthiran from Barts And The London Smd – Blizard Institute, United Kingdom will present a short oral presentation entitled “The role of fatty acid synthase (FASN) in the initial stages of senescence and ageing“.

Introduction: Senescence plays a major role in pathological processes such as ageing and cancer. It is characterised by a secretory state known as senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which involves release of factors such as interleukin 1α (IL-1α), IL-1β and IL-6 and small extracellular vesicles (EVs). [1] This study explored the role of fatty acid synthase (FASN) in senescence and its potential as a therapeutic target for ageing.
