Hull York Medical School, United Kingdom

Professor Mathew Hardman, from Hull York Medical School, is a leading expert in skin biology with over 20 years of experience, particularly in the field of wound healing. He will be joining the Skin Ageing and Challenges Congress to present his groundbreaking research in a talk titled:
Targeting Staphylococcus Aureus: A novel therapeutic Approach for skin microbiome recovery and regeneration”.

His presentation will highlight porcine skin as a superior preclinical model for human skin microbiome studies, establishing its relevance over traditional murine models. He will also share novel findings on the use of a chimeric enzyme, endolysin XZ.700, which selectively targets S. aureus within the living skin and wound microbiome. This targeted approach effectively restores microbial diversity and accelerates tissue repair, without harming beneficial skin microbes.

Professor Hardman will conclude by discussing the broader implications of targeted antimicrobials as a forward-looking strategy in treating infections, promoting skin regeneration, and potentially managing age-related skin decline.
