Prof. Andrea M. Liceaga from Purdue University, USA, will present their recent study during the Skin Ageing & Challenges 2025 and give a talk entitled "Targeting Skin Ageing with Bioactive Peptides: From Food Sources to Functional Evidence".

Food-derived bioactive peptides (BAP) are emerging as potent cosmeceutical and nutricosmetic ingredients, offering multifunctional anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Recent advances highlight BAP from marine, animal, and plant proteins that enhance cell viability, suppress UVB-induced oxidative stress, and inhibit key skin-aging enzymes including collagenase, elastase, hyaluronidase, and tyrosinase. Computational modeling demonstrates their ability to interact with skin membranes and target aging-related enzymes, while in vivo studies confirm improved skin structure and resilience. Clinical evidence further shows reduced pigmentation, enhanced hydration, and anti-wrinkle benefits within six weeks. Altogether, food BAP provide a promising natural strategy to support skin health and drive the next generation of high-efficacy cosmetic innovations.
