“Decellularized Human Umbilical Cord Extracts Enhance Fibroblast Activity” Skin Challenges 2024 Best Poster Award
We are pleased to announce that Andrés Caicedo from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, has been awarded the Best Poster Presentation (1) at the Skin Ageing & Challenges 2024 conference for his research titled “Exposure of Skin Fibroblasts to Decellularized Extracts from Human Umbilical Cord Tissue Enhances Migration, Proliferation, and Metabolic Activity.”
Caicedo’s study explored the regenerative potential of decellularized extracts from human umbilical cord tissue (HUCDE), which retain active molecules essential for wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects. Using a patented method (SENADI-2022-48957, licensed to Luvigix, Miami, USA), his team produced HUCDEs that stimulate key cellular functions in skin fibroblasts, including migration, proliferation, and metabolic activity.
- Enhanced Cell Activity: HUCDEs increased metabolic activity in fibroblasts by 20-30% at optimal concentrations, with statistically significant results.
- Potential for Regenerative Therapies: The findings point to HUCDE’s promise in developing effective skin regeneration treatments, targeting age-related and wound-healing applications.
Congratulations to Andrés Caicedo for this remarkable contribution to skin health research!
