Nanomaterials and Natural Compounds in Skin Regeneration and Rejuvenation

Prof. Margherita Maioli, from the Department of Biomedical Sciences University of Sassari, Italy will join the Skin Ageing & Challenges 2021 Congress and will give a presentation entitled “Nanomaterials and Natural Compounds in Skin Regeneration and Rejuvenation“.
During her presentation, Prof. Maioli will describe specific nanomaterials used to deliver natural bioactive molecules in tissue regeneration. In particular she will talk about the use of nanotechnologies in preventing skin aging caused by UV radiation. Within this context, Prof. Maioli will illustrate recent experimental results obtained by her research group. Polycaprolactone (PCL)-nanofibers were used to set up a novel nanodevice, Nano PCL-M, able to control the delivery of Myrtle (Myrtus communis L.) extracts, rich in bioactive molecules. Skin cell populations co-cultured with Nano PCL-M in a dynamic model, were protected from UV aging. Nano PCL-M is able to preserve extracellular matrix features and Collagen I depot, modulating also the molecular events related to stem cell and fibroblast senescence.
