Human Skin Aging is Associated with Increased Expression of the Histone Variant H2A.J in the Epidermis

Prof. Claudia E. Rübe, from Saarland University Hospital, Germany will join the Skin Ageing & Challenges 2021 Congress and will give a presentation entitled ”Human Skin Aging is Associated with Increased Expression of the Histone Variant H2A.J in the Epidermis“.
During her presentation, Prof. Rübe will discuss the fact that Cellular senescence is an irreversible growth arrest that occurs as a result of damaging stimuli, including DNA damage and/or telomere shortening. Additionally, in skin biopsies from healthy volunteers of different ages (18-90 years), she investigated the histone variant H2A.J as a new biomarker to detect senescent cells and other parameters involved in triggering and/or maintaining cellular senescence. Collectively, Prof. Rübe will present her findings suggesting that H2A.J is a sensitive marker of epidermal aging in human skin.
