Granzymes in Epithelial Barrier Disruption and Disease

The scientific committee of the Skin Challenges 2021 Congress is honored to announce the participation of Prof. David Granville from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prof. David Granville will give a presentation entitled “Granzymes in Epithelial Barrier Disruption and Disease“.
Prof. Granville confirms that granzymes are a family of serine proteases that were once thought to play redundant roles in lymphocyte-mediated killing of unwanted cells. According to his studies, it is now known that these proteases contribute to inflammation, extracellular matrix degradation and cleavage of cell adhesion proteins. Recent work suggests a key role for granzymes in the disruption of epidermal barrier function and dermatitis.
